A Port Fairy Story

A little history.
A lot of character.

Oak & Anchor Hotel has been part of Port Fairy’s story since circa 1857. Known over the years as The Royal Oak and The Commercial, the hotel welcomed travellers, locals and Cobb & Co coaches through the years when Port Fairy was still known as Belfast.

For generations it remained a familiar gathering place in town — somewhere to stop, stay, share a drink and watch life pass by. Last drinks were called in 2017, closing one chapter in the building’s long history.

In November 2018, local Blair Robertson and his wife Sally began the building’s next chapter. Their vision was to breathe life and love back into the landmark bluestone building, preserving its character while creating a boutique hotel for a new generation of guests.

Seven Suites

Each entirely its own.

No two suites at Oak & Anchor are alike. Each has its own layout, proportions, outlook and personality, shaped by the architecture of the original building and the newer spaces created during the restoration.

Six suites are located upstairs on the first floor, while Anchor Suite is the only ground-level suite. Six of the suites are open-plan, including the bathrooms, while Anchor Suite offers greater separation between the bedroom and bathroom for added privacy.
